19 Feb 2009 - Will Rain become Superman?

Recently, Wachowski brothers could be in charge of new Superman series, hollywood movie, and Rain could participate in it with them.

Rain's agency J. Tune entertainment made their position clear about this, "We've never heard about Wachowski' next film, but if we are offered, we'll positively examine the proposal."

Meanwhile, Ninja Assassin is due to be released in France on July 29, but it has not decided yet in America. Rain is currently staying in Berlin for post-synchronization of 'Ninja Assassin'

18 Feb 2009 - Rumor Killer: The Wachowski Brothers NOT Offered Superman Reboot

Remember that report that showed up on AICN last week claiming that The Wachowski Brothers had been offered a reboot of Superman?

Sorry to get you guys all excited but I have just gotten confirm!ation from two independent sources that the report was completely false. I don’t know if an interview with James McTeigue actually aired on RTL1 or not (I’m guessing not) but The Wachowski Brothers have definitely never had any talks with DC or Warner Bros to helm a Superman film. This is confirmed.

11 Feb 2009 - The last report on AICN

Could The Wachowski Brothers be in line to direct a reboot of Superman for Warner Bros? A scooper over at AICN caught an interview with V For Vendetta director James McTeigue on Berlin television where the filmmaker admitted that Plastic Man was originally scheduled to be the brothers’ next project, but the film has been delayed indefinitely due to a major shake-up of projects at Warner Bros. McTeigue was even signed on to direct second unit, as he has done on past Wachowski Brothers productions.

Here is where things get interesting. According to the report, McTeigue said that Bryan Singer was not going to helm another Superman film because Warner Bros wants to reboot the franchise. Also, Singer wants to move on to the Logan’s Run remake that he was developing before he got sidetracked a couple years back. And Singer’s departure has forced WB executives to take an entirely new direction.

Ready for it? The Wachowski Brothers have been approached to develop and direct the Superman reboot. Now before you freak out, nothing has been finalized. The Wachowski Brothers have not agreed to the project yet, but McTeigue said if they did, there is a chance he would take over as director of Plastic Man. I can’t even imagine what a Wachowski Brothers-directed Superman movie would look like.

20 Aug 2009 - EXCLUSIVE: Rumored 'Superman' Director Reveals His Vision For Man Of Steel

"Ninja Assassin" and "V For Vendetta" director James McTeigue has long been rumored as one of the leading candidates to take over Warner Bros.' stalled Superman movie franchise.

Earlier this month, McTeigue offered a vague, somewhat cryptic response when asked whether the rumors were true—so we couldn't help putting the question to him again when he dropped by Splash Page HQ today. Fresh off wrapping things up with the much-anticipated, action-packed "Ninja Assassin," McTeigue would "neither confirm nor deny" his attachment to a new "Superman" movie... but he did tell us where he'd like to go with DC's Man of Steel if—and that's a big if—he was in the director's chair.

"I think if I was ever going to go near Superman, I would do a complete reboot—take it in a direction that you would absolutely not expect, actually," McTeigue told MTV News. "So, that would be my thinking on it, if I was ever going to go near Superman."

Elaborating on the direction he'd like to take Superman in a potential movie, McTeigue said recent events would seem to work in favor of a new take on the Man of Steel.

"I think it's good that they just had a court case where, basically, if you make another Superman movie, you can't touch Superman growing up—that's part of the story that you can't touch any more," he said. "That wouldn't be a bad thing. I think everybody's a bit sick of seeing the origin story."

While we can't stress enough that McTeigue isn't officially on board the potential big-screen reboot of the "Superman" movie franchise, it's certainly interesting to know what one of the rumored top contenders would like to do with the character if he had the chance.

Check out Splash Page tomorrow for more of our interview with McTeigue, and be sure to check out Movies.MTV.com all next week for an in-depth look at "Ninja Assassin" in our massive Fall Movie Preview!

2 Oct 2009 - Ninja Assassin director admits having talks on new Superman film

DIRECTOR James McTeigue - whose Ninja Assassin comes out in November - has been persistently linked to making the next Superman movie for Warner Bros.

Previously, he refused to comment on rumours that he would helm a Superman reboot with his long-time collaborators the Wachowski brothers as producers.

Then he spoke about what he would want to do with the character if he did become involved.

In a further interview, this time with FirstShowing, he admits he has been in talks and elaborates on his vision for bringing the man of steel back to the big screen in a more successful way.

He said: "I've had some discussions - the Wachowskis to a lesser degree - but the Superman franchise is in a strange kind of place at the moment. I think they're still trying to work out the mechanics of how that can come together."

He's referring to the fact that Warner Bros is shackled from moving forward on a Superman movie by an ongoing legal battle with the heirs of the character's creators.

McTeigue added: "I think I would be interested in doing it if they let me do it the way I wanted to do it. I would say that if you take the Richard Donner Supermans and the last Superman [from Bryan Singer], I think that Superman is probably ripe for a bit of a change up. I think society has changed around the core idea of what Superman was."

"And I'm not saying you do the ubiquitous dark Superman, I'm not saying that... I'm just saying that I think there are some things that you could excise from the Superman mythology that people would get into it, if you took the world that he was in and changed that a bit, and maybe even project that into the future a bit.

"I think you don't really have to play into the origin story anymore. I think there's a whole bunch of things you could do to make that film more alive and exciting again."

McTeigue also admitted he would love to take on 20th Century Fox's X-Men Origins: Magneto, another project to which he has been linked, if David Goyer drops out of directing it.

He also spoke about his next film, The Raven, inspired by the famous Edgar Allen Poe poem of the same name. The Raven follows Poe in the days leading up to his mysterious death: he was found delirious and in distress on the streets of Baltimore, wearing someone else's clothes, and died of unexplained causes in hospital on October 7, 1859.

McTeigue said: "It's about the five last fictionalised days of Poe's life, so there is the poetry of Poe in there, that is through the film. But it's done in such a way that it feels like part of the film, it doesn't stick out. I'm really happy with the script, so I'm really excited to get it made soon."

Describing the film as "an amalgamation of Poe's stories crossed with Se7en", he explained: "It's about a serial killer loose in 1850s Baltimore. And as his motif, he kills people the way Poe kills them in his books.

"I wouldn't say it's action, it's more a thriller. At each murder, the killer leaves a clue, and Poe is set against the clock to find someone before they die.So I would say it's a dark thriller. Sort of in the vein of of that book The Alienist, in that kind of vein."
