Rain's new year starts by the casting in a new Hollywood film!"
A good head start for the actor-and-singer Rain (25) in year 2008! He had chosed to participate in a Hollywood film which is produced by one of the most famous film producers in USA.
After completing his CF shooting in Korea, Rain departed to L.A. and in the middle of preparation for his upcoming Hollywood film. Since November 2007, he was so determined to improve his English language by staying with a personal lecturer who is a American Korean.
His agency, J Tune Entertainment publicist revealed, "Rain is now in L.A. and getting ready for his next Hollywood film. A local Korean who stays there is hired to be his personal lecturer. There're still some details to sort out so it's not the right time yet to talk more about this issue (new film)."
On the other hand, Rain greeted his fans by releasing a short video clip at his official site. "I'm grateful to have everyone's love and support in year 2007, so hope that you can continue to encourage me in year 2008."

Es wird für einen neuen Film ein Koreanischer Junge gesucht zwischen 12 und 15 Jahren, der Rain ähnlich sehen soll. Er soll sportlich und fit sein, da er einen jungen Ninja-Schüler namens Jubei darstellen soll. Der erwachsene Jubei soll dann später von Rain verkörpert werden. Das Casting für den Jungen soll im April 2008 in Berlin sein. ...
==> hm etwas merkwürdig ... warum suchen die einen jungen Koreaner ausgerechnet in Berlin und nicht in Korea??? Und die Webseite des Artikels heißt "Networking Entertaining Asian American Talent Org." - also Asien und Amerika da macht Berlin noch viel weniger Sinn? Info:
Director James McTeigue was an assistant director on 2 of the "Matrix" movies, one of the "Star War" movies and director for "V for Vendetta" working with the Wachowski Brothers who wrote and directed "Speed Racer". It's interesting that Natalie Portman star of "Vendetta" wanted to talk to Rain while he was at the Berlin Festival, but they were unable at that time to manage their schedules. This was before he was cast in "Speed".

WMA vice president, John Mass, called new movie title 'Ninja Assasin' but we already know it is from Anime - Ninja Scroll.
It will be Joel Silver and Wachowski brothers film. I wonder how they will make this anime to movie.
Because of this movie, he is working very hard to loose weight and build his body.
Also, Studying English hard (he said he doesn't have problem communicating in English.).
Ah, also He will be main character in this movie and NO, he is not Japanese in this movie. (on that casting post a couple weeks ago, they were looking for Korean youngsters to play younger Rain, specifically looking for Korean due to accent and stuff.)

Riding on the "Korean Wave", known in Korea as "Hallyu", Rain was named one of the "100 Most Influential People" by Time Magazine in 2006 and one of the "100 Most Beautiful People" a year later by People Magazine.
Rain recently concluded a contract with the William Morris Agency (WMA), a New York-based talent agency that represents entertainers such as Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Russell Crowe.
"We're a business with a number of artists who are really international artists, and we look at Rain as the same", said John Mass, a WMA vice chief. "He's not just popular in Korea or Asia, but he's popular throughout the world".
Rain began his singing career after releasing his first solo album, " Bad Guy ", in 2002, a huge success that was followed by other popular albums. He launched his acting career when he starred in the South Korean television drama "Full House" in 2004 and the movie "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK" in 2006.

Babelsberg - Studio Babelsberg steht weiter hoch im Kurs in Hollywood: Bereits Anfang März sollen nach PNN-Informationen in den Potsdamer Filmhallen die Dreharbeiten für den Actionfilm „Ninja Assassin“ beginnen. Damit finden sich die Brüder Andy und Larry Wachowski – berühmt geworden durch ihre weltweit erfolgreiche „Matrix“-Trilogie – und Produzent Joel Silver nach nur siebenmonatiger Pause wieder in Babelsberg ein.
Im Jahr 2007 führten die Wachowskis von Juni bis Ende August im Potsdamer Studio Regie bei der Comic-Verfilmung „Speed Racer“. Mit dabei war neben Stars wie Susan Sarandon und John Goodman auch der südkoreanische Popstar Jung Ji-hoon, genannt Rain. Er soll nun die Hauptrolle in „Ninja Assassin“ übernehmen. Auch der Regisseur des Actionstreifens arbeitete bereits in Babelsberg: James Mc Teigue drehte Anfang 2005 „V for Vendetta“ mit Natalie Portman in Potsdam – Produzenten waren auch bei diesem Hollywood-Projekt die Wachowskis und Silver. Studio Babelsberg wollte das Wiedersehen mit den „alten Bekannten“ auf Anfrage nicht kommentieren. Zahlreiche Branchendienste meldeten aber bereits die Verpflichtung des Popstars Rain sowie den geplanten Dreh in Babelsberg.
Wenig ist dagegen bisher über den Inhalt von „Ninja Assassin“ bekannt. Das Buch sollen Andy und Larry Wachowski selbst geschrieben haben. Darin soll es um Schattenkrieger gehen, die in Geheimbünden trainieren und gefährliche Attentate ausführten. Der Film soll Ende 2009 in den Kinos anlaufen.
Zuvor startet im Mai 2008 aber zunächst „Speed Racer“ auf den Leinwänden. Der Film soll angeblich zum Filmfestival im französischen Cannes, das vom 14. bis zum 25. Mai stattfindet, präsentiert werden. Der Familien-Actionfilm um einen jungen Rennfahrer hatte Babelsberg volle Hallen und gute Umsätze beschert. Nach damaligen Angaben des Studio-Vorstands Carl L. Woebcken gaben die US-amerikanischen Produzenten bis zu 40 Millionen Euro in Babelsberg und der Region aus. Zwölf der 21 Hallen waren für den Film vermietet und 500 feste und freie Mitarbeiter daran beteiligt. Mit einer Tochterfirma ist das Studio zudem Koproduzent. Aus dem Deutschen Filmförderfonds (DFFF) erhielt „Speed Racer“ neun Millionen Euro. Ob auch die neue Produktion über das Steuermodell gefördert wird, ist nicht bekannt; ebenso gibt es bisher keine Angaben zum Budget.
Maßgeblich für den neuen Auftrag könnte aber die technische Infrastruktur in Babelsberg sein: Für „Speed Racer“ hatten die Studio-Chefs die Filmhallen mit „Visual Effects“-Ecken ausstatten lassen. Dort konnten die computeranimierten Szenen sofort mit den real gedrehten zusammengefügt werden – bei „High Tech“-Filmen ein Muss. Verantwortlich für die so genannten „Visual Effects“ bei „Speed Racer“ war Oscar-Preisträger John Gaeta.
Für den südkoreanischen Popstar Rain ist „Ninja Assassin“ bereits der dritte Film. Im vergangenen Jahr präsentierte er auf der Berlinale die schräge Komödie „I’m a Cyborg, but that’s ok“.
