Hollywood still discriminates Asian stars. Rain's compensation in his new movie Ninja Assassin was only half of the amount of a new American cast.
According to news from Newsen on March 13, the management company J.Tune of Rain said that although he played the main role in Ninja Assassin, his pay rate was only $500,000. However, he would be like other Hollywood stars in such way that after the movie was shown all over the world, he would receive his share of profit.
The article also emphasized that the pay rate of Rain was only half of other new casts who received up to 1 million dollars for each main character that they played in any movies.
With his famous in Asia, $500,000 was not a big money but Rain himself could lean on the number of audiences that would come to the theaterbecause of his name, especially in many areas in Asia.
Besides, J. Tune also had announced on March 13 that Nikon's camera had just renewed 1 year contract with Rain; the net worth of the contract was up to 1 billion and 155 millions won. The new set of advertising will be filmed in Cambodia.
On March 7, Rain took a plane to Berlin to prepare for the filming of Ninja Assassin. When the first Hollywood movie Speed Racer is shown in Korea, he will be back for the movie's advertising activities.

| Quote: | 24 March 2008 - Maggie Q: Hopes Rain Will Not Lose Focus In Hollywood
As one of the seniors stepping very early into Hollywood, Maggie Q proposed the following suggestion to Asian actors, "For those Asian actors wanting to develop in Hollywood, the most important thing is that you do not lose your own focus."
(Skipping)
Maggie Q, who can portray both a moving performance matched with the ability to do acrobatic fighting movements, indicated this, "In order to survive in Hollywood, the most important thing is that you don't lose your focus. Although South Korean actors have left a profound impression on me, I can only remember several names, but I have heard the news of Rain stepping into Hollywood." Maggie Q as a senior gave Rain such an advice to him upon hearing the news that he was heading to Hollywood through <The Matrix>'s directors the Wachowski Brother's new movie <Speed Racer>.
"The most important thing is not to forget why you're doing this in the first place. However, staying focus in Hollywood is extremely important yet a very difficult thing to do. And given what is assigned to us, Asian actors should be more diligent in making prior preparations. Otherwise, we'd only be actors stuck with roles such as an angry dry-cleaning shop owner."
(Skipping other unrelated)

dsl99a note: Maggie Q is currently in Seoul together with Andy Lau promoting their new movie "Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon". She and Rain were co-presenters of an award at last year's Asian Film Festival in Hong Kong.

Ja, ja diese Amerikaner! Was soll ich sagen!
