15 Jun 2010 - Rivalry between Rain and Stephen Colbert continues
For those of you who have been avid followers of Rain during his debut into the American media, you may recall his friendly rivalry with satirist and comedian Stephen Colbert.
If this is news to you, here’s a quick run through. Well, it appears as if Stephen Colbert has more to say to this “Biggest Badass Star!”
On the latest episode of The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert talked about his Korean arch nemesis in a segment called, “Who’s Not Honoring Me Now?” Describing Rain as a “man who takes cruel pleasure at beating me in things” Colbert listed out all of Rain’s achievements in comparison to himself. In addition, he questioned Rain’s validity for winning the 2010 MTV Movie Awards for the “Biggest Badass Star,” stating, “Clearly, he only won the Badass award because his movie has the word ‘ass’ in the title twice…and was bad.”
Later, Colbert concluded his segment on Rain with the statement, “But you know who you didn’t see in that [Ninja Assassin] clip? Me. Who’s the better ninja now?” Smart one Colbert! Check out the clip below!
Now before you get fired up over his comments, keep in mind that Stephen Colbert is a satirist. Don’t take it too seriously. As a matter of fact, I’m sure they are quite good friends, if not acquaintances. Don’t believe me? Check out some of his earlier clips on Rain on the Colbert Nation and tell me that they are still true rivals.
15 Jun 2010 - Stephen Colbert did scream 'Raaaaaaaaiiiin!' again
Hooray! Last week, Korean pop sensation Rain won an MTV Movie Award for Biggest Badass Star, and I wrote eloquently about how every time it rains, I pretend I’m Stephen Colbert raging against his arch-nemesis. Readers Madd, avenger, and Steph confessed they regularly do the same, and the truly committed Johnification said he even screams “Raaaaaaaaiiiin!” when it’s not raining, just as measure of general frustration.
Well, last night, Colbert proved he is ever so predictable, if only in this one stupid way, by delivering his most fervent “Raaaaaaaaiiiin!” yet! Watch it (scream occurs at 1:54) after the jump. Now will someone please give Mr. Colbert a Tony?
16 Jun 2010 - Read this if you don't know who 'Rain' is, or if you do
Remember when Rain won the MTV Movie Award for Biggest Badass Star and everyone was like “Who is Rain?” No? Well, you were smart to be watching Breaking Bad instead. Here’s the deal with Rain. He’s a Korean pop sensation with whom Stephen Colbert feuded in 2008 because both were up for the top spot in the Time 100. Stephen challenged Rain’s reign with his spoof video, “He’s Singin’ in Korean.” Then Rain actually showed up at The Colbert Report to look his “old nemesis” in the eye, and Rain and Stephen had a proper dance-off. Smoke machines, empty studio, tight red jeans on a respected newsman, a struggle to the near-death for Dance Dance Revolution domination, the works. This time he was DANCING in Korean! Please do relive it after the jump. The takeaway from all of this is that 1) Stephen Colbert is hot; 2) Trivia: Rain played Taejo Togokahn in Speed Racer; 3) This is why every time it rains, I look to the sky, shake my fist, and yell “Raaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiinnnnnn!” Nerd.
16 Jun 2010 - Stephen Colbert, “Rain only won the ‘Biggest Badass Award’ because his movie title has ‘ass’ appear twice”
American comedian Stephen Colbert tells what he think is the reason why Rain won the ‘Biggest Badass Star’ at the recent 2010 MTV Movie Awards.
Colbert had talked about it on his show ‘The Colbert Report’ recently on 14th June, “Last week, MTV gave out their annual movie award. But I didn’t even get a nomination. Hey MTV, what about my voiceover work in the ‘Bounty Hunter’. But what MTV did next shocked me more was Ra~~in. Yes Rain, my Kpop arch nemesis. A man who takes true pleasure in beating me at things. And now he wins for ‘Ninja Assassin’? Clearly he only won the ‘Biggest Badass Award’ because his movie title has the word ‘ass’ appear twice. And was bad.”
He added, “Rain won me with ‘Ninja Assassin? The action scenes were impressive. But you know who didn’t appeared in that movie? That’s me. Who’s the better ninja now.”
Back in 2008, Colbert did a comical satire on Rain after Rain was ranked above him on Time’s most influential top 100 people, including a funny parody of Rain’s hit song ‘How to Avoid The Sun’.
It seems he is back at that again after 2 years. And meanwhile, a report was released on American famous site Entertainment Weekly on 15th June titled ‘Stephen Colbert did Scream Raaaaaaaaiiiin Again‘ which garnered much interests from netizens.
Ich liebe es. Vielleicht zieht es ja noch was nach sich mit Stephen und Rain. Wäre schön mal wieder so ein amüsantes Battle zu sehen. _________________

16 Jun 2010 - Stephen Colbert has a serious man crush on RAIN
emember the Stephen Colbert feud with RAIN? Well Stephen Colbert is back at it again and once again Stephen is hilarious. Don’t you miss Colbert raising his fist and yelling the name of “RAIIINNNNNN!” whom he refers to as his “Kpop arch nemesis.” Stephen pounced on RAIN’s recent winning of MTV’s Badass award at the MTV Movie Awards. It’s a brilliant piece of comedy that Stephen Colbert displays as he rails on RAIN and his movie Ninja Assassin.
17 Jun 2010 - Stephen Colbert’s arch nemesis is…Rain?
Yes, American comedian and television host Stephen Colbert pokes fun at his Kpop arch nemesis once again. In case you missed it, Colbert did a comical satire on Rain back in 2008. The reason? Well you see, Rain topped Time magazine’s most influential top 100 people that year so what better way to “prove” one’s self than a funny parody of Rain’s hit song ‘How to Avoid The Sun’. Imagine it. Now, re-live it again.
Two years later Colbert revives the oh-so-bitter rivalry and tells us his reason why Rain won the ‘Biggest Badass Star’ at the recent 2010 MTV Movie Awards:
Quote:
"Last week, MTV gave out their annual movie award. But I didn’t even get a nomination. Hey MTV, what about my voice over work in the ‘Bounty Hunter’? But what MTV did next shocked me more than if they had played a music video. (Cue drawn-out fist-pumping scream) Raaaaaaaiiiin! Yes Rain! My Kpop arch-nemesis. A man who takes true pleasure in beating me at things. From Time.com’s most influential person…to out-selling my Korean pop single…and now he wins for ‘Ninja Assassin’? Clearly he only won the ‘Badass Award’ because his movie has the word ‘ass’ in the title twice. And was bad."
He added, “But you know who didn’t appeared in that movie? Me. Who’s the better ninja now.”
Oh, snap. Despite this talk of rivalry, do you think maybe Stephen Colbert just has a teensy man-crush on our beloved Jung Ji Hoon? Whatever it is, it just keeps me in stitches.
