| Quote: | Name Mix-Up Dampens Rain's Hollywood Debut
Singer and actor Rain had an embarrassing moment at the premier of his Hollywood debut film "Speed Racer" at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on Saturday. The 26-year-old Korean superstar was introduced as Taejo Togokhan, the name of his character in the movie, instead of his real name Jung Ji-hoon, or his better-known stage name.
The premier drew reporters from around the world, come to see the latest work by directors Andy and Larry Wachowski, the creators of the worldwide blockbuster "The Matrix." Several Hollywood luminaries also turned out, including Jodie Foster, Tim Robbins and Jon Voight.
The first Wachowski movie in five years, "Speed Racer" is based on a Japanese animation called "Mach GoGoGo" about aspiring young car racers. Anticipation is building among movie lovers eager to see how the innovative directors, known for the revolutionary visual style they pioneered with the "Matrix" series, will use the latest computer technology to tell the tale.
Rain's name mix-up wasn't limited to just the announcements -- he was also listed as "actor Taejo Togokhan" in the caption of a photograph of him with costar Susan Sarandon. The mistake would be like writing Sarandon's name as "Mom Racer."
The publicists managed to get the name of Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada, who also appears in the movie, printed correctly. Having spotted the error, the foreign press corrected the Korean actor's name.
Meanwhile, Rain is set to tour to Asia, the U.S. and Europe to promote the film, kicking off with a stop here at home where the movie is slated to open on May 8.

Day 4 – April 27
Rain is leaving LA to NY today at 12:31 pm. I woke up 7:15am this morning and got ready to meet Kay & pick up other girls from Wilshire Grand Hotel. We arrived the airport at 10am cause we really don’t want to be late this time. We walked to terminal 7, tried to found out where he’ll check-in, then I met this couple with their kid (I saw they were at Nokia theatre yesterday), I heard that they’re from Boston and I think his husband is so sweet that he can wait under the sun with his wife & son just to see Rain. (their kid likes Rain too, his mom said he can dance & sing Rain’s song, that’s so cute!) While I was talking to this couple Mike arrived and he finally figure out it’s terminal 6, so we walked to terminal 6 and some of the fans were there already. We spent our time chatting to each other and suddenly Alice saw a car outside the window and said “he’s here.” I think it was around 11am. We waited in front of the entrance and Rain came out from his car after a while, they loaded their luggage in front of us and suddenly I realized the dad & the son was in front of Rain, he really love kid so much cause you can tell by his big smile after he saw the kid, he even took a picture with the kid. (so lucky!) After they loaded all their luggage onto the cart, the dad & the son went up to him for an autograph. After he sign for the kid, some of the girls brought out their pen and asked him to sign, he signed for couple girls but because it happens in a sudden, there was a little pushing and his assistant stopped it right away after I took my pen out. They started walking to the check-in area and I’m lucky enough to walk next to him and asked him to sign for me and then he walked up to the check-in counter. He was there for about 5 minutes or maybe more cause it really seems pretty long. I can be able to walk around trying to get a better view of him. He looked soooooooooooooooooooo handsome today, he wore a black polo shirt with his collar standing up, black jeans and Nike sneakers and had sunglasses on in front of the check-in counter. There were a group of 6-7 people with him and they started to walk over to the gate after they all check-in. We also headed our way to the gate entrance and we waited in front of the restricted area. I saw a girls lifted her hands up and tried to shake hand with him, so I put my hand in front of him when he walked by me, he looked at me, shook my hand say “thank you” to me. I was so happy after that and I think my world stopped for couple seconds after I shook hand with him, he gave a little pressure when he shook my hand that I can feel his sincerity in it. We have another minute or two to watch him while he waited the flight attendance to check his boarding pass and then he went inside the restricted area.

| Quote: | 29 April 2008 LA Fan Account (Friday 26 April 2008)
Hi guys! I wanted to say thanks to all the fans that showed up for any of the events this past weekend in LA. We definitely made some noise and showed the world that our Rain is worth paying attention to. Not to mention that he has very dedicated fans. It was so nice to meet all of you. Also special thanks to rainalice and vlvtpath for helping organize things and pushing me to go to LA. Any thanks I receive should be passed on to them. Thanks guys! (^__^) I’ve also been enjoying the various fan accounts (reliving the moments) and wanted to post my own. I was present for all of the activities (except greeting Rain at the airport on Thursday), but since I basically would be repeating what everyone has said so far, I’ll just talk about Friday (The Imaginasian Theater Premiere) which has been the greatest day of life (so far). Hope you guys Enjoy!
FRIDAY!!
11:00am – Hsiao and I arrived from Washington, DC at 9:45am, took a shuttle (that was driven by a lunatic) and arrived at the Wilshire Grand. After meeting Alice and Cindy, we jumped in a taxi to check out the Imaginasian theater and much to our disappointment it was definitely NOT what we expected. It was a bit shabby as other fans have said, but we were still happy that our boy would be here. After speaking with the manager of the theater we decided to go “equip” ourselves with water, umbrellas, sunscreen and snacks and comeback to start the line. So we grabbed another taxi and headed back for the hotel.
2:00pm – After picking up Darlene (and literally running into Yoko at the hotel) we jumped in another taxi and headed back for the theater. Sadly, all of this “taxi jumping” mixed with my excitement resulted in me losing my cell phone. I know the driver was probably annoyed hearing my “With U” ringtone over and over again, but it still was not returned. Anyhoo, we arrived back at the theater to find that a line had already been started. A little bummed that we weren’t the first to arrive, we got in the back of the line and began our wait that lasted about 6 hours! Yeah, 6 HOURS! There were many water breaks, bathroom breaks and the staff brought us posters, pins and tickets. The manager of the theater (Jim) was really nice and after he saw the frantic look on my face when he told us some of us might not get in, he tells me “don’t worry you’ll get in”. Inside my head I was thinking as long as I get to see Rain, I’m cool, but I just nodded my head to say ok. Oh! Also, during this time, I had the pleasure of meeting and talking to a lot of fans. One fan in particular will become my new best friend because we are SO going to the next Hollywood Bowl K-Pop Music Festival together (LOL).
7:45pm – After losing the feeling in my feet from standing in my new (and now scuffed up) shoes, Rain finally arrive. Guys, he is SOOOO beautiful! I know I thought he was cute before, but no. Seeing him in person is just…he’s just too good looking! And his hair was so cute with the side part and the bangs. Anyway, once he got out the car all of us are screaming our heads off and after talking to the press and taking pictures with the Mach 5 (Speed Racer’s Car) he comes over to the fans. When I saw that he was signing autographs and shaking hands, you’d think I would’ve grabbed a pen and paper, but I just froze there in awe screaming! So, eventually he comes closer to me and he takes Jean’s poster and signs for her WHILE STANDING LIKE RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!!! Again, all I could do was stare at him and think “he is such a beautiful person”. Finally I snapped out of my daze and held my hand out for him to shake it, but at the time there were people behind me doing the same thing so right when I thought he was going to shake my hand, he shook someone else’s and only the back of my hand touched his. Thinking that I had lost the opportunity, I slowly pull my hand back, but then out of nowhere Rain grabs my hand, shakes it and says IN ENGLISH “Thank you”. I smiled, said “thank you” back to him, watched him autograph Jamie’s poster, and continue down the row until he was out of my sight. That’s when the fangirl kicked in overdrive and I just started screaming!! Then I turned to my left to Jean and she said “he signed my poster” and I said “he shook my hand” and we both screamed “AHHHHH” and hugged. Definitely a fangirl moment (LOL). After that to our delight the staff of the theater told us that if you have a ticket you can come and watch the movie (YAY)…but no cameras! That was an “uh-oh” on our part because we all had camera’s, but Jodie was nice enough to let us use her car to store our stuff (Thanks so much Jodie). After my ticket number was called I merrily strolled into the theater where Jim (the manager) was waiting and he smiled at me and said “didn’t I tell you, you were going to get in?” I laughed said, “yes you did” and gave him a high five. (LOL) Usually I don’t go around “high-fiving” strangers, but if this man had anything to do with us getting in the theater that night, he was DEFINITELY “high-five” worthy. Afterwards, Rain introduced the movie (love his accented English) and I absolutely loved it.

| Quote: | Fan Account #2 - Firday night in LA 4/25/08
I realize there are several other fan accounts already posted about Friday's Speed Racer/Rain excitement, but I wanted to share my experience with everyone too. After checking into my hotel Friday at 12:45pm, I left with Kim(KRain5), Hsiao(Vlvtpath), Alice(RainAlice), Yoko, and Cindy for a cab ride to the center. Once there, we quickly got in line behind a small crowd. Thanks to Kim, I didn't have to go by myself. I was kind of worried because I am unfamiliar with LA, except for Disneyland! We passed the time talking to Jay, Mike, meeting the others in line and chatting about our favorite K-Dramas (with Rain, of course), and Rain music. According to the Imag. Center, 400 invites were sent out for this free screening, but the theater only holds 250. We were told once the invitees were accounted for (before the 8pm showing), only then were we allowed in until capacity was reached. Though some of us were worried (me), I think everyone who waited in line got in because there were some empty seats. Numbered tickets were passed out as well. Anyway, red carpet was scheduled at 7pm when the press and Rain were to appear. As the time drew nearer, the crowd grew restless and excited as well. Anyone who was in line also got a “Speed Racer” mini-poster of Rain as “Taejo.” Eventually, the line against the building was redirected to stand behind "crowd control" barriers that stood end to end, facing the press area. As the time drew near, we kept looking everywhere for any signs of his arrival. I guessed that we would know his presence when screaming was heard. Before we lined up, Mike and Dianne had a giant poster printed up of an image of Rain from his 4th album. It was for Bi from the Rain-USA fans congratulating him on his 6th anniversary debut.(Thanks Mike, what a great idea!) All the members got a chance to sign it with their name, hometown, and messages for Rain. The fans who stood in the front, middle of the fan area got to hold up the poster for Rain to see throughout the red carpet event. Anyways, we finally heard “screaming” and “sigh-h-h,” he arrived!!! He went straight to the press area for interviews, and we went crazy!!
Though the gallery section has many up close and professional photos of this event, I wanted to share mine as well. They aren’t as clear, or as close, but I wanted to show how much the fans were able to see of him with the press “blocking our view.” Luckily I was right next to the barrier, and I tried to climb up one rung, extend my arm up as high as I could to take the pictures. As you can see, I barely got his face in any of the shots. After awhile, I decided to stop and just enjoy the moment – my arm was getting tired anyway.
All of a sudden, Rain broke free from the press, and proceeded to greet his fans!! He made his way down the “aisle” next to the barriers signing his autograph on posters and shaking hands with us. I had to decide quick what to do. I wanted an autograph and to shake his hand, but knew I couldn’t ask for both, as there were people in back who couldn’t even reach the front. JeanY had her “conversation” with Rain about the spelling of her name, then Janie was right next to me getting her signature. By the time he got to her, I couldn’t think anymore, When he was directly in front of me, I wanted to have him sign Kim’s poster and my poster, but all I could do was stick out my hand for him to shake – which he did!! Next to me, Anna got him to sign her Rain’s 4th album booklet, then it seemed that everyone thrust something towards him to sign from every angle.
His handshake was firm, and warm…ahhhh. I didn’t wash my right hand all night, haha! I feel I was so fortunate to get this chance to see him this close. All the fans in attendance were very well behaved – this was no “mob scene.” Oh, he looks just as good close up as in pictures – very, very nice skin. Though he was right in front of me, most of it is a blur. I was still “dreaming” when we got into the theater. Then, just before the movie started, Rain was introduced to the audience – just like Young Jae in “Full House” at his movie premiere. It was very cute when he took the microphone and said, “Hi, my name is Rain…..”When he said this the response was laughter from the audience. Rain’s English is very good. I couldn’t detect an accent. He must be studying hard. Then he left and the movie began. The movie was very good, lots of action, lots of Rain too
I had to leave LA the next morning for a wedding in San Diego, but I was still in the clouds from the night before. I was so fortunate to have such a great time, and make many new friends from Rain-USA. Thank you Jodie for giving me a ride back to the hotel that night! -- Darlene
