Korean Pop Star Arrives in U.S.

OnMay 10th and 11th, Korean pop star Rain held press conferences inAtlanta and New York City to promote his upcoming concert dates of"Rain's World Tour" at Phillips Arena on June 19th and Madison SquareGarden on June 23rd.

At the press conference, Rain said hisconcert would blend Asian flavor by incorporating both Korean andEnglish songs into his performance.

The U.S. leg of his worldtour will be a test to see how US audiences receive him. So far, he hasnot officially entered the U.S. market by releasing an albumspecifically for Asian Americans, even though he has many American fans.

Whenasked about his popularity in Korea, he said it's not because of hislook, but because of his attitude and performances, as well as hisdedication to singing and acting.

Currently Rain is studying English and may come to New York to learn English this September.

Epoch Times (ET): At the age of 25, you already have money and fame. How do you remain balanced and keep a clear mind?

Rain®: I don't think there is an issue of balance, because I always knowwho I am. I stand on firm ground. For example, when dealing with thepaparazzi, I try to work with them. I think just following the courseof nature is the best way to handle things.

ET: You went through 18 auditions before you got your break. What was your motivation to keep trying?

R:I started because I love to dance and I love to sing. To this day, thathas not changed. I try my best to do these well. That's all.

ET: How do you handle conflicts when your ideas are different from your producer or agent?

R:I don't think there is any conflict. Because what the team wants iswhat I want, and what I want is what our team wants. At the times thatI don't want to do certain things, I have to know how to sacrifice forthe greater goal.

ET: Have you ever considered blending your unique style with contemporary American Pop music?

R:In order to for that to happen, I feel I need to prepare and find aproducer who can work with me harmoniously. Someone who isknowledgeable that can complement my talent to produce and tailor mysound for an American audience. Then we will have our own unique style.I believe this will happen in the future.

ET: There are quite alot of young people who want to become an entertainer and emulate you.You have worked very hard to get to where you are now. Can you sharethe secrets of your success?

R: First of all, for everythingthat you want to do, whatever that might be, either singing or acting,you need to have a great passion for it. I think it's possible tosucceed in whatever you do if you have enough passion. I would like tosay these words. We know water will boil when it reaches the righttemperature. But success may not come along just because one gives100%. That person also has to have good fortune. You can give more than100%, even 200%t, and you may still not reach your expectation, whichyou define as "success."

When you want to be successful, insteadof attaching to it and thinking of the word "success", do what youenjoy and completely throw yourself into it. Don't feel burdened anddon't even think about the word, "success". You will already be asuccess when you just love what you do and enjoy what you do.
