Director of movie "I'm a Cyborg, But that's Ok" praises Jeong Jihoon's passionate acting!
In order for actors to be able to get into their roles, Director Pak is not stingy when it comes to teaching the actors special acting techniques. During the filming, he looked at Jihoon and commented, "Jeong Jihoon is an actor who does not appear to be a newbie at acting. He is very professional, and when I look at him during filming, his amount of passion makes me wonder where does he get all these energy from." He continued, "Just a while ago he can be playing a mischieveous look, yet within 10 seconds, he can instantly become a character trying to hold his tears back. He has so much emotions."
In the movie, Jeong Jihoon plays the character Ilsun, a boy who goes around stealing people's personality and special traits for fear that his self will be extinguished one day. Jeong Jihoon, with his special hairstyle and the way he immerge himself into the role will show the audiences a new side of him which they have never seen before.
Having concluded "Sympathy for Lady Vengence" in his trilogy of Vengence series, Director Pak comes back with a brand new genre of movies. According to Director Pak, "I'm a Cyborg but that's OK" is a romantic comedy.
But while it is based on a love story between a guy and a girl, it is difference from the usual romantic comedies. Other than the best actors Im Soo Jung and Jeong Jihoon (Rain). the collaboration pattern between these two actors and Director Pak has made netizens very curious and looking forward to this movie.
Jeong Jihoon expresses "with regards to acting, I broke all the stereotypes I held", conveying his ambition in this piece of work. In addition, other than Director Pak, Jihoon also spent significant amount of time with his experienced co-stars, Oh Dal Soo (?) and Im Soo Jung, displaying his passion and feelings towards acting that is unlike that of others.
The movie "I'm a Cyborg but That's Ok" started filming on 29th March this year. At the moment, 70% of the filming has been completed. The filming is still in progress in Pusan.
I'm a Cyborg but That's Ok" is a romantic comedy that describes a girl who thinks she's a cyborg, and a guy who thinks it's ok even if she's a cyborg. Filming is expected to conclude in July and scheduled to go on screen in December.

Host: It doesnft matter if itfs in China or Korea, we know that Rain is a very international artist. Being his junior must mean that you interact a lot with him. Do you think Rainfs character in Fullhouse is similar to him in real life?
Star: I myself have become a fan of this drama and Ifve watched it before. Rain was mainly easily hated, arrogant and didnft care much about the people around him in the first part of the drama. These traits are especially different from Rain. After Rain falls in love with Song Hye Gyo in the drama, he treats his girlfriend (SHG) very well (note: in the drama only! not real life), everyone around him thought that this personality was very similar to his personality in real life. Rain usually looks like he doesnft have much to talk about so he appears to be very cool. However, when hefs with his close friends, he changes a lot and he looks after his friends very well.
Host: When you left the company, was Rain upset about it? Did you two say goodbye?
Star: Actually, transferring to a new company doesnft necessarily mean that you completely strip off all communications with your old company. My brokerfs manager went off to open a new office and it turns out that the old office originally had a lot of connections with other companies, also the old office was already co-operating with JYPE in a lot of activities, so the relationship was very close. Even now therefs a lot of things that we need help with from JYPE and a lot of things that needs JYPfs support; including some overseas activities. The overseas part will probably involve working more with JYP on projects. Although I have left JYPE, Rain and I still go to the same beauty parlor, so when I go to do facials, I sometimes see him there. This time I went when my 3rd album was released and I saw Rain there curling his hair, I gave him my new CD. Rain was very supportive of my 3rd albumfs activities

Inthe drama, his role kept switching between the present and the past;now he's a gigolo; the next moment, he's back to becoming a student.Hence his hairstyle was always changing, sometimes up to 6 times a day.No wonder he's losing his hair.
Warning, Spoiler:
In the original script, only Sangdoo was supposed to die.
It was supposed to portray Sangdoo as putting in his all his effort, tried hard and struggled to live on,
but fate is cruel. Even a person who tried so hard to survive still died in the end.
So I had planned to let Sangdoo die peacefully.
When I was writing episode 15, I received Hyejin’s mail.
"Please don't kill Sangdoo. If you must kill him, please kill me too. Because if Sangdoo dies, I won't be
able to live on too."
At first I was bewildered by this whole thing, but she mailed me 6 times in total.
So I decided to call her, asking her what exactly did she think she was doing?
Toldher it's Sangdoo dying, not Rain. But she said, "If Sangdoo dies,Eunhwan will not be able to live too. Please let Sangdoo live.Otherwise, just kill us both."
I have completed my script and Icannot change it, neither do I plan to change it. I told her the scriptmay under-run, and she actually told me to re-write the script!
After hanging up, I was unable to ignore the issue, so I called Rain and asked for his opinion.
I was terribly angry, reprimanded, "How dare you ask me to rewrite the script, idiot?"
Raintold me, "I don't know, but if Sangdoo really dies alone, his life isreally too sad. What sin did he commit so much so that he has to diealone?"
After that issue, I saw the two at the filming site. Suddenly it occurred to me that killing Sangdoo alone is indeed very cruel.
Ah~ These two are indeed inseparable. Let them stay together then, whether live or dead, I thought.
Sangdoo was supposed to express that he is not tired, and doesn't feel that his life is sad despite being in jail.
This is because in his heart, Eunhwan is always by his side, hence his life is not too tragic.
But during the filming, Rain kept crying.
Ididn't indicate in the script for him to cry, but he was totally intothe role, so he couldn't help but sob. He was crying so sadly he couldspeak properly and had to stop filming for a while.
Thinking back, Rain is right, Because he has completely became Sangdoo.
Therewas a scene when Sangdoo wanted his uncle to teach him how to playcards. His uncle was surprised because Sangdoo had said he'll nevertouch that stuff. In actual fact, the part that was being cut awayexplained how he sworn off gambling because that was how Sangdoo's realfather gambled his life away. But because Eunhwan's mother liked peoplewho play cards, she he wanted to pick it up too.

Q: You spent more time with Rain than with your family. What do you think about him?
A:For those who meet him for the first time, they can feel his pressure.Rain has his very unique temperament.. a strong and powerful charisma,so people will cheer 'OH!' when they first see him, including somecelebrities. Rain met lots of famous celebrities such as Ban Kimoon,Rice (USA official)... these are very rare but precious experience forRain indeed.

Q:There're many Korean artists are developing in foreign countries. Doyou have any comment on the strategies to enter foreign markets?
A:As mentioned just now, systematic delivery is very important. Inaddition, I suppose the cooperation relationship between artiste andentertainment company is vital, too. In fact, due to the great successof Rain, the company and the artists have a clearer idea how to repayand return... it's an equation of complementary..
Q: What is your opinion about the role of manager?
A: Messages, sharp judgement, bursting power, impetous, good communication skills and other capabilities.
Q:The internet media described singer Sin "the relationship betweensinger and manager is like husband and wife". What do you think aout it?
A:Well, it's not just a matter of one or two persons. No matter how, bothsinger and manager must have agreement and take actions together. Mostof the time the artist himself/herself has to bear extremely heavyworkload, therefore it's important that we know each other mindset& thinking without talking. In the meantime, we still have torespect each other as an individual that needs his/her own space.. Thisis the relationship...
Q: Are you involved in the examinations to select those potential artists?
A: Normally the managers will look through, followed by the committees and lastly by Park Jinyoung himself.
Q: What are the criteria when shortlisting those potential?
A:Their strength. If you look closely at JYPE artists and compared toother entertainment companies, you hardly find any pretty boy norbeautiful girls here. Park Jinyoung has the spirit of artistry, he candetermine if this person has any strength behind by just one glance.There's high chance that we'll go to China to find candidates there...
Q: How about those don't have enough strength but work very hard, and they come to JYPE for self-recommendation?
A:Other than their strength, we also look at their potential. Strength isvery basic requirement, the attitude is vital, too. Those who havestrength and good attitude are perfect candidates.
Q: What do you think about fans?
A:Speaking frankly, fans are the people who pay us. We really thank them,they are very precious to us. The suggestions and feedback from fansdid contribute and help a lot, so the opinions from fans are quiteuseful. Although sometimes we are blamed, we never angry.
Q: You mentioned about the great influence of internet fans culture, can you describe it further?
A:The internet is quite developed nowadays, thus it's easier to gatherfans, which is a great advantage. Secondly, fans from all over theworld can provide many information, sometimes they even know the newsearlier than us.
Q: Most entertainment companies seldom set up fansite, how does JYPE manage to do this?
A:Actually this is quite a novel concept, it still needs lots ofimprovement, we are improving according to suggestions and feedbacksfrom fans.
Q: It seems like you worked with many artists before?
A:That's not true. I'm in this field for 4 years, basically I just handleRain's schedules. Rain is a 'big project' by itself. I receive 300 -400 emails everyday, 80% are related to Rain. w00t.gif
Q: There're some ridiculous things happened... Can tell us more about it?
A:Many ridiculous things indeed (laugh), especially the fraudssurrounding the artists. When we went to China, there were about 20-30people pretended to be Rain's manager. We did write a notice to policestation stating that we have no relation wit these people. Heard that aguy was cheated $50,000,000 because he wanted to see Rain.
Q: How was this matter solved?
A:We wrote the statement in police station. The guy who was cheated saidthat he would contact with us later but he didn't... I'm curious aboutthat too..
Q: What's the most wonderful moment when you worked together with Rain?
A:The first time I felt so was when we went overseas, 80% seats wereoccupied in Japan concerts. The second time is Rain's entry intoTIME100 and they invited him for the party. Jerry Brukheimer, JenniferLopez, Will Smith and many celebrities attended the party, it was veryexciting. Lastly, it's the news about MSG concerts, I saw 18 news aboutthis in one day, it broke the record. We were in USA that time and allwere shocked! w00t.gif w00t.gif w00t.gif
Q: You've faced any bottleneck in work?
A:Well I think I have more personal troubles than work problems. Seldommeet my parents and friends, sometimes I doubt that what am I doing.Now I'm 30++, time passes so fast but I still haven't married yet(laugh). Q: Any JYPE artist that is very potential but not that developed yet?
A:NOEL is very strong but unfortunately their development are notperfectly planned. Now Jiang Yuncheng (pinyin) from NOEL is going torelease his single.

When the movie "Cyborg" was about to show, Director Park Chan Wook kept smiling. This is not his first his first or second movie, but this time, it feels like he's awarded with a special prize. In the past, he had believed that "Sympathy for Lady Vengence" would be rated 15 and above, but he was dealt with a blow. So this time, it's double joy for him. To Director Park, this is a new challenge - his first attempt to film a movie with a youthful theme, and at the same time, it's Rain (Jeong Jihoon)'s first big-screen movie....(omitted)
Q: This time, the participation of Rain attracted much attraction. How did you two first meet?
Park: I got to know about Rain through Park Jinyoung. Once, when we were having dinner with some other people, Park Jinyoung started handing out CDs, one for each person. The CD says "Rain". I thought it was the name of the featured song. Later, I learnt that it was the name of the singer, and I thought, "What a strange name." I think it was the time he made his debut and was starting his promotional activities.
Q: How did you first discover Rain's acting skills?
Park: During one of the movie award ceremony, I saw him dancing with Lee Hyori. You could tell the kind of vitality he possesses. He doesn't just dance well, but has a showmanship like that of Michael Jackson. You could easily imagine him in a movie. During the ceremony, I saw the looks and unwavering attention the actresses were giving him, and I thought, "He is a charismatic youth indeed!" But at that time, I thought, "When can we work together? I guess the possibility is not great..." So I let it go at that...
Q: How fated are you and Rain?
Park: During the sound dubbing for "Sympathy for Lady Vengence", Rain came to visit our production team. After work, we went for a drink together. We had drinks together again during the VIP movie premier. Because Sung Kang-ho and Chol Min-chi like him a lot, so I unconsciously, I trusted him too. At first when I was preparing to film a movie with youthful theme, my mind was all filled with images of Rain. I didn't have time to go think about other actors. It's exactly the same case when I was filming "Sympathy for Lady Vengence". The first person I thought of was Lee Young-ae.
Q: Now that you know Rain, what do you think of this person?
Park: Carefree, no vices, no hidden secrets, very down-to-earth. He's exactly who he is when you see him normally. There's no feeling of a dark, hidden side. His character is uniform inside-out. I want to let all these show through the movie.
Q: How's Rain as an actor?
Park: He can feel very well. In acting, it is very important to be able to grasp the moments. Because he is very smart, he understands what I tell him very quickly, and can express the things I want.
Q: What's the story behind choosing Im Soo Jung as Rain's co-actress?
Park: Rain suggested it. He said he hopes for Im Soo Jung to take up this role. I naturally agree with him.

The part with Sang-Doo is so true! He really made the character alive.
What his father said about his hard-working son, made me kind of sad. Until when can he work like this, can his body and mind take the pressure  ?
