11 Sep 2010 - [Fan Account] The fan-girls went home happy

From the ‘ahjumma’ (‘manang’ in their 50s) to the tweens and teens, they got their fill of Rain
TOUTED as the biggest K-Pop event to hit Manila, “Intensity” which featured Christian Bautista, U-Kiss and Rain clearly showed the growing popularity of K-Pop in the Philippines.

With only three-week notice, fans found their way to the MOA concert grounds Sept. 11.

It was perfect time to watch the different fan-girls who came to support their idols.

Rain’s ‘ahjummas’

At around 6 a.m. on the day of the mini concert (in Korea a performance has to last at least three hours to be considered a concert) some 60 to 70 foreign fans had already started to mass near the VIP entrance. The concert was to start at 8 p.m. but the fans were already there to make sure they’d get the best spots in the mosh pit.

Most of the fans were what I would call Rain’s “professional ‘fan-girls’” (boys). They’re mostly from Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Macau, China, and even HK.

They’ve made it their business to follow him around the globe for his concerts, fan meets and other activities. Some have been following Rain around the country since his arrival in Cebu Sept. 1. Rain spent two weeks here to shoot for his TV series Fugitive.

On the day of the concert, they were joined by Pinoy fans, many of whom are members of Cloud PH, Rain’s local fan club.

None of them fit the K-Pop fan-girl stereotype—they’re certainly not in their teens. Most of Rain’s fans are in the 30s to 40s. The age range of Rain’s Japanese fans is 40 to 60, while here, most of his fans are in their late 20s to 30s. They are mostly “ahjummas”—or “manang.”

These are mostly women who followed his dramas, the most popular of which was “Full House.” I talked to two fans (who requested anonymity) who admitted to being in their 50s. They said they’ve never experienced being a fan-girl until Rain came along—and they’re proud to be his fans.

They initially admired Rain for his good looks and pumped-up performance. They became loyal fans because his life story inspired them. Rain rose above difficulties to be famous.

Since most of these “professional” fans are actually professionals, with high-paying jobs, they can afford to follow Rain around and buy his albums, DVDs, photo-books, whatever merchandise.

They’ve also come to love fan-girling because it has allowed them to network with other fans from all over the world, creating a community bound by their love for the Korean pop star.

U-Kiss’ fan-girls

While most of the early birds were Rain’s “ahjumma” fans, another type of fans started flocking to the venue around mid-afternoon. This time they were real fan-girls. They are girls in their tweens and teens accompanied by their moms and older relatives.

Among them were cousins Sofia and Corrinne, aged 10 and 11, respectively. They wore cute, colorful outfits with glittery sneakers, and they hoisted lightsticks. They were at the Araneta Coliseum in U-Kiss’ first major concert a few months ago. They said they like U-Kiss because “they’re so cute.” And they like the way they’re dressed.

They said they discovered the K-Pop idol band through their music videos. Since then they’ve bought the boys’ albums and posters, followed them on Twitter and online forums, memorized all of the group’s songs and dance steps.

Their love for U-Kiss has also led their moms to check out the K-Pop scene and eventually to pick out their own “idol” boys.

Christian

While a few local artists opening for foreign acts would get booed by an impatient audience, Christian Bautista was definitely not. The audience was quite enamored of Christian who sang three slow songs. He looked good and had the best vocal performance that night.

When U-Kiss’ turn came, the girls started screaming and jumping. Sofia and Corrine asked their adult companions to carry them on their shoulders for a better view of the guys. It was a very short four-song set, but the girls were happy and thought that it was all worth it.

The crowd went wild when Rain appeared through the stage floor. He sang nine songs, including the hugely popular “Rainism,” “It’s Raining” and his latest songs, “Love Song” and “Hip Song.”

The guy gave it his all and was a powerhouse onstage. You just couldn’t help but be in awe of his energy and charisma. Too bad he had to lipsynch some songs, but the fans understood—his dance moves were quite complicated.

The fans seemed satisfied, although they would have wanted a longer set. There was no encore too.

Although the concert got mixed reviews, one thing was certain: The fan-girls—the “ahjummas” and the girls—went home happy, with yet another successful fan-girling experience to blog about.

11 Sep 2010 - [Fan Account] Intensity Concert in Manila

Sorry for not being able to continue with the update sooner…had to spend some time with the family in Manila before flying back to Jakarta last Monday.

I see by now you would have seen so many pics and vdos already and that you would have an idea already as to how everything went and how truly unforgettable and I-N-T-E-N-S-E (in keeping the whole theme) that whole 40-minute, 9-song performance of Rain was…

While waiting for the concert to start, the 2 giant screens on both sides of the stage were repeatedly showing ads/videos of the sponsors as well as the actual promotional ad for the concert.  Every time this ad ran and Rain’s name was mentioned, the audience would scream in unison.  Not sure if it’s just me but at the mention of U-Kiss’ name, somehow the screaming sounded louder and so it dawned on me that we actually have quite a number of U-Kiss fans in the audience that night (I am sure though that by the end of the concert they would have become instant fans of Rain, if they are not already).

Instead of waiting it out in the mosh pit area, my sister & I roamed around the audience area.  That’s where we saw the (still) empty spaces in between the VIP and gold sections which I reckoned was because the VIP ticket holders were really trying to squeeze themselves as close as possible to the stage area leaving the back end bare.  There were vendors roaming around selling drinks and glow sticks. We walked by the stalls lined up on both sides of the audience area.  They were mostly food stalls (coz no food and drinks were allowed from outside) and we proceeded to buy ourselves Back to the Basic albums (actually I bought 2 for myself just to support the album sales in the Phils as my sister’s not really a Rain fan J) and even got ourselves free Rain posters that went along with the CD/DVD packs.  The record store reminded us not to open them during the concert lest we block the view of the people behind us.  I had absolutely no problem with that, I’ve got my hands full already with a camera in 1 hand and a glow stick in another Smile

By 8 pm, the fans were becoming restless with excitement already especially after seeing the crew putting bottles of mineral water on both sides of the stage.  The stage was not really big nor high.  It was about half of LOR’s width and much simpler (none of the glittery backdrops of LOR) but it had the 2 levels reminiscent of most of Rain’s concerts (although Rain did not actually use the 2nd level if I remember correctly).  The backdrops were plain because, as we would later know, they were to be used as screens where MVs & other film clips that were to accompany each song were to be projected later on.  No live band nor back-up singers to fill up the stage either, just some technical crew on both ends of the stage. There was a staircase right in the middle of the stage that led down to the aisle dividing the mosh pit area (but as we would later know, it was only Christian Bautista who actually used it when he was looking for “beautiful girls” to serenade (neither U-Kiss nor Rain actually went down to the audience area).

The thing that signaled really the start of the concert was when all these camera men (media men I believe) came out of nowhere (I’m guessing from the backstage area) and positioned themselves on both sides of the aisle in the middle of the mosh pit area with their pro cameras.

At around 8:20 pm, VJ/DJ KC Montero came out on stage and officially opened the concert with some sponsor acknowledgments and then acted as emcee for the show introducing each performer (didn’t really like this part because he made everything look more like a variety show than a concert).  He introduced Christian Bautista who sang 3 songs in just about less than 15 minutes.  I know there were a lot of talks about how CB was so inappropriate to be Rain’s front act and all but really, I was impressed not so much by his performance which was just ok but by his humility.  He stopped short of apologizing to the fans for prolonging our agony in waiting for Rain.  He was like “ok that’s 1 song down, just 2 more to go ok, please bear with me…”  That was really cool of you Christian, if anything you’ve endeared yourself to Rain’s fans…

Next came U-Kiss.  Even before KC Montero had finished his introduction, his voice got lost already in the screams that ensued as soon as U-Kiss members started climbing up the 2nd level of the stage behind him in prep for their opening number.  U-Kiss had the distinct advantage of being able to speak in English and so they were very engaging and funny actually.  They were able to interact with the audience in between songs which was a plus and at even one of their ad libs, there were members who tried imitating some of Rain’s dance moves, including showing some abs, which they acknowledged were nowhere near Rain’s.  They, like Christian, indirectly acknowledged that it was really Rain who was the main man that night.  But I give credit to U-Kiss for being very entertaining that night.  For somebody who didn’t really know who they were, I actually enjoyed their performance.  No wonder they keep coming back to the Philippines (this is like their 3rd or 4th time already performing I hear).  They closed their portion with a repeat of one of the songs they had sang already in one of their previous Phil concerts (according to them), Boyz II Men’s End of the Road.  I believe this song really showcased U-Kiss’ singing ability and the fact that they aren’t just some boy band who dances really well.  Well done U-Kiss!

And then came Rain’s turn, finally! My watch read 9:20 pm.
First there was complete darkness.   Then out of the blue, the chants began “Jung Ji-Hoon..Jung Ji-Hoon…”!!!  And then the opening video presentation illuminated the stage amidst screams of fans (myself included )  Then there he was, gradually coming out from beneath the stage amidst a pile of smoke, our RAIN looking gloriously HANDSOME in a white blazer and everything else in black—his shades, fitted v-neck shirt, tight pants, belt, boots , gloves.  His hair (not pitch black hehe) has obviously grown over the last few months and was just worn down naturally (so he looked almost the same as he did at the press conference).
After striking his signature “mean” pose, he shouted “Everybody, make some noise!”  Boy, was everybody already doing that   with all the non-stop screaming. I almost didn’t’ hear It’s Raining starting to play in the background.  His male dancers (all 6 of them) then joined him in an explosive opening number—donning loose gray jackets over black shirts and denims.  Worthy of note here are the crisp and always on cue audience chants of “Rain, go Rain, it’s raining…” and “Jung Ji-Hoon…”…I was so happy with the audience that night (everybody was really o-n-e in giving their all—exactly the way I expected and wanted people to be in the Jakarta LOR to be but sadly wasn’t) Way to go Cloud PH for leading the chants—especially those in the VIP section!  I’m sure it made Rain very happy too…I know he always likes his audience to have fun with him…
Without stopping for some introductory greetings (well he did say “What’s up Philippines” while doing It’s Raining), Rain proceeded to do Touch Ya.  By this time, he was letting the dancers take the center stage while he roamed around the stage more, moving from one end to another trying to make more contact with the audience.   He would repeatedly say “Clap your hands”…well actually singing it to Touch Ya’s rap beat.
And then he finally stopped to catch his breath.  “What’s up Philippines!  Ma-ni-la!” he shouted.  He took off his shades, smiled at the audience and then some seconds of silence (not so sure but it looked to me like he was thinking whether to speak in English or Korean).  During this time, I felt sort of bad for him because I could really feel that he wanted to connect to the audience, majority of whom he knows all too well do not speak Korean, and yet he knew he couldn’t really say much in English.  So after hesitating a bit, he finally decided to do his spiel in Korean which was just as well because he appeared more sincere in doing so anyway (and if I may add, he looked rather shy about it, walking around the stage as he talked, with his head bowed down a bit).  There were quite a number of Koreans in the audience so I’m glad there was some reaction to whatever he was saying (would really love to know what he was saying—all I know is that he was smiling the whole time he was speaking so it must be about something that made him happy).

By this time his face was already wet with sweat which was completely understandable. My sister & I were just standing out there and we were sweating & fanning ourselves the whole time!  Am not sure if he expected it to be that hot as he has probably not done an outdoor concert in a tropical country in a very long time.  Sure the venue was right next to the Manila Bay but the sea breeze somehow got engulfed by all that “hotness” on stage.  So I’m glad that the next 2 songs were Way to Avoid the Sun and I Do.  So he can somehow take a “breather” (and the fans too hehe).  I was afraid the heat was going to wear him out much too early in the show.  He took off his blazer and donned his shades again.  When he was just in all black, it dawned on me that he really has shed off a lot of weight since last year’s LOR concert.  And boy was he sunburned!  My sister was like whispering to me “is he really this dark coz I mean aren’t Koreans supposed to be fair skinned?”  And I said no! He’s just been out in the sun for too long while shooting his latest drama   I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him at that point because it’s obvious that he’s really been working & pushing himself too hard (yet again) and that I even felt a bit guilty that he had to slip in a concert at that, all for the sake of the Phil fans!  But hey that’s Rain.  And though I feel bad for him, I’m sure the love shown to him that night more than made up for his sacrifices.  Well, Way to Avoid the Sun wasn’t much of a “breather” because Rain was hot as ever what with all that gyrating movements and his muscle shirt-like outfit showing off his powerful upper arms.  Well, he’s got it so he was really flaunting it.
By I Do, Rain and his dancers were already drenched with sweat (so much so that I would think those on the front row may have been “splashed” a bit?)  I can faintly see a lady holding onto white towels already at the far end the stage getting ready to dry the boys up.  But this didn’t drain Rain and his dancers of energy one bit.  Rain became even more intense as he teased the audience to no end, sticking his tongue out, pulling his shirt up, smiling ever so naughtily…in  my mind, this guy was pulling out all the stops to his performance!
And then everybody exited the stage via the backdrop which opened up to the backstage for them.  Good time for a much needed break and a quick change.  During this time, the Love Song MV was flashed on the screen and microphones were being set up on stage (with Rain’s having his BTTB cap hanging over his mic).  Not long after, Rain came out in his glittery BTTB outfit (he just changed his top and his gloves and this time without the shades) and starting singing Love Song.  His dancers later joined him in their own BTTB outfits.  This number was really oozing with sexiness—especially after Rain took off his jacket which revealed him wearing only a tank top!  The dancers then left him and from Love Song to Love Story he went.  The MV was being played behind him and a standing mic ascended from beneath the stage right in front of him and he sang using this standing mic instead of his ear mic.  I believe it was at this point when I started to sense some weariness already in Rain, not so much because of all the energy he’s expended but because of that heat!  He was sweating like crazy!  His hair was already sticking to his face.  And we haven’t even reached Hip Song!
As in the 1st half of his performance, after 2 songs, he’s able to have some time off to talk to us.  Again, in Korean, so am not sure what he said but at one point, he joked (at least this is how I understood it from his actions) about how soaked his ear mic had become and he even took off the mouth piece and wrung it dry in front of his face, generating some laughs from the audience.  He then wiped his face & hair dry with a black towel and fixed his hair a bit (he looked so boyishly cut when he did this) before signaling the start of his next number, one of my all time faves, Rainism.
Rainism got everybody wild again and you just cannot help but dance along with him on this one.  So my shots during this song were all a bit blurry already  The Cloud PH also made sure the chants came up at all the right moments whether it be “Rainism”, “make some noise” or just plain “Jung Ji-Hoon”…Rain was just so S-E-X-Y in this number, I’m sure he literally took everybody‘s breath away.  I like that he wasn’t wearing his usual LOR Rainism garb this time around and so we can clearly see his entire bod.  The simpler the better.
I think it was Hip Song which really brought the house down.  It was my sister’s instant favorite she would later tell me.  It was non-stop screaming during this entire number.  My voice had started to become hoarse already at this point hehe.  And it was during this number that I really saw fatigue creeping into the dancers already as they try to catch their breath every chance they get.  But Rain, I really wondered, where does he get all that energy from!  At the end of the number though, everybody just looked so exhausted and drenched in their own sweat, including Rain.
The next & last number as we would later learn was Instead of Saying Goodbye.  It was unexpected although we already had all the signs right in front of us—the video presentation on the backdrop already had the text “Bye Rain” and confetti was splashed all over the stage already at the beginning of the sone.  They were flashing aerial views of the audience onto the backdrop and boy what a sight to behold!  It was literally “Full House”.   At the end of the song and with Rain now on his lonesome on stage, the concert came to an abrupt end (yes it still felt so abrupt despite all the tell-tale signs).  After a quick kamsahamnida and a flying kiss, Rain left the same way he came, descending to beneath the stage, waving to everyone and all smiles.
As expected, everybody shouted for an encore-encore which never came.  My watch read 10 pm.  Come to think of it, Instead of Saying Goodbye was probably meant to be the encore with Hip Song really being the finale of sorts.  People stayed on for just a few more minutes before realizing there wasn’t going to be any more of Rain when the crew started tidying up the stage already.  While I would have liked to see him one more time, I also felt like wanting to just let him have his rest already.  My sister & I agreed, he and his dancers looked pretty dead beat already.  I told her about the LOR in Jakarta which was a full 2-hour show and with 2 encores at that!  I really wondered whether it was the heat or the fatigue from having to juggle between shooting and performing and press promotions.  But I guess it was a combination of all these taking a toll on everyone.  So yes, it was perfectly fine with me that Rain didn’t reappear anymore.
My sister & I lingered on for a few more minutes.  The HK cloud beside me also stayed on and we were like saying to each other nobody seems to want to leave (more like nobody wants the night to  end just as yet).  One member of Cloud PH behind me asked me to wait while she called on one of its members who I was trying to look for at the beginning of the show.  It was so kind of her to remember…whoever you are, you and the rest of the Cloud PH have certainly shown what gracious hosts Filipinos are  I was introduced to Rizza of Cloud PH and after a brief exchange, I patted her on her shoulders for a job well done and told her she can now take a much needed rest too but I reckon she still wouldn’t be able to what with other people still coming up to her and more importantly, what with Rain still in the country…
Speaking of Rain—he must still be in the premises because, on our way out, my sister and I saw people queuing outside a black tent beside the stage that had the sign Entrance to Meet & Greet Holding Tent.  I guess those were the lucky ones who will get to meet Rain backstage (I wondered whether it was ill-timed to have it after the concert again because Rain should really be resting already).  We were trying to get a peak at the backstage and saw a white van parked.  On our way out, we passed by a lot of girls still gushing over Rain’s performance and sexiness and a TV crew doing their post-concert interviews of fans still clearly on 7th heaven.
So all in all, this was how a Rain concert should be—Rain pulling all the stops on his performances and the audience just letting their hair down—no inhibitions. I was telling my sister how this was the complete opposite of my experience during the Jakarta LOR concert…which was a no standing, no dancing, no taking of pictures event vs now it was all standing, all dancing and free for all!  Not to mention that everything just fell right into place including the weather which as if by divine intervention took a breather from the daily rains that poured over Manila in the days leading up to 9/11 and the fact that 9/10 had been declared a holiday in the Phils & Indonesia giving the fans and Cloud PH really more time to prepare for this once in a lifetime experience.  What a night to remember!!!

27 Sep 2010 - The night it 'drizzled' in Manila

Rain scattered sexy steps into every song he performed at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, where Christian Bautista (inset) was the front act. The Korean pop star has released his new album, Back to Basic, under Polyeast Records. — Photos by Carlo Orosa

MANILA, Philippines - Remember Elvis the Pelvis?

His signature pelvic thrusts thrilled `50s teenage girls and scandalized their mothers. Half a century later, a Korean pop star was eliciting the same reactions from Filipino concertgoers.

The Intensity concert featuring K-Pop acts Rain and U-Kiss and crooner Christian Bautista, certainly lived up to its name. Nightfall did nothing to cool down the electrified crowd. As the show progressed, the atmosphere at the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds literally and figuratively got hotter and hotter.

Hours before the concert started, there was already an excited buzz inside the concert grounds. Members of the audience, most of whom were hormonal girls of all ages (from grade schoolers to their cougar moms), had already staked out their territories inside the venue.

Clusters of Filipino fan girls were constantly moving through the crowd, chattering excitedly about supposedly seeing their pop idols. Their Korean counterparts were similarly animated as they found ways of sitting on the ground without spoiling their fashionable outfits (many of them were also struggling to maneuver around the unevenly packed soil in their skyscraper heels).

Luckily, the crowd didn’t have to wait long for the show to start — a good thing, since most of the youngsters in the crowd looked ready to throw water bottles at host KC Montero for taking such a long time to introduce the night’s performers.

Front act Christian even acknowledged that he was only prolonging the crowd’s agony when, after his opening number, he said, “One song down, one song closer to U-Kiss and Rain.”

To his credit, Christian really charmed the crowd with the three songs he was allotted to sing. The moment he walked onstage, the Pinay mothers in the audience were suddenly like teenagers again, swooning and screaming, “Ang gwapo mo, Christian! I love you!”

Their daughters who, at first, were subdued and looked impatient for Christian’s set to be over, were just as entranced by the time he sang the last line in his popular song, The Way You Look at Me.

The hardcore K-Pop fans in the crowd seemed to appreciate the fact that Christian started the concert with Wrong Number, his collaboration with the Korean pop band, One Way.

However, it was his rendition of Jose Mari Chan’s Beautiful Girl that really wowed the crowd. He asked two girls from the audience to come up on stage, where he serenaded and danced with them.

Unfortunately for Christian, his opening act was forgotten the minute the lights dimmed for K-Pop group U-Kiss.

Even though the Intensity concert is its third visit to the Philippines, U-Kiss still drew a large crowd. One fan girl noted that there were even more KissMe (Official U-Kiss Fan Club) members than Cloud (Official Rain Fan Club) members who watched the show.

Maybe the loyal Filipino following stems from its energy and playfulness when onstage. Aside from performing the hit songs, Bingeul Bingeul, End of the Road and Man Man Ha Ni, the U-Kiss members goofed around and showcased their individual talents, too.

Xander, one of the members most fluent in English, was very chatty, talking about the Twitter accounts of his six co-members, and happily proclaiming that he had eaten two servings of halo-halo that afternoon.

He and Kevin, the other member who is fluent in English, were like ringmasters orchestrating their groupmates’ antics. They made their friends dance like other Korean artists, including Rain.

“Do you wanna see a six-pack?” Xander asked the crowd, which went wild (as if he needed to ask). He and the other members of U-Kiss then proceeded to poke fun at Rain’s famous hip movements and his abs, which he is known to show off.

While this not-so-innocent fun kept the energy up throughout their set, it also made some mothers in the crowd uncomfortable. Those who had been screaming their hearts out for Christian had suddenly gone quiet and were looking mortified that their kids were giggling over guys’ butts and sexy dancing.

And it didn’t get any better for them when it was Rain’s turn to take the stage. The show had gone from sweet to spicy.

It seemed that Rain had put a damper on the moms’ night, but the young girls in the crowd probably wouldn’t have noticed if it started raining frogs because they were so focused on the K-Pop star and his smooth dance moves (most seemed to be waiting eagerly for Rain’s classic shirt-ripping, ab-exposing routine).

Rain scattered sexy steps into every song he performed — and his playlist was quite long. With titles like Hip Song and Touch Ya, what kind of show did the mothers expect to see?

The Rain fans in the audience, however, knew and eagerly anticipated the artist’s concert routine. One girl was hyperventilating (whether it was from the heat and humidity or excitement over Rain, we’ll never know). To keep from falling to the ground, she was clinging onto random strangers and singing along breathlessly to each and every song.

But overall, the audience lost the energy build up during the two previous performances. Maybe it was too hot or crowded, or simply because most people in the crowd went to the concert not for headliner Rain, but for guest act U-Kiss.

It didn’t help that there was not much audience interaction because Rain didn’t speak English. In fact, he barely said anything, except for two to three sentences in Korean.

Sadly, it seemed that as the concert flowed from sweet to spicy, the audience became less and less involved and interested in the show. There weren’t even any fan chants or fan projects for Intensity, unlike typical K-Pop concerts (even those held here in the Philippines, like Super Junior’s Super Show 2 held last March).

The two-level stage wasn’t maximized. The upper level was used once by U-Kiss, and the lower level was too low! Even from the just a few meters away, it was hard to see the performers over the heads of the people in front (and these aren’t exactly basketball player-tall people).

Plus, the ending was really abrupt. Rain simply sang his final song, said “Kamsahamnida (Thank you),” and left the stage. There wasn’t even an encore, and surprisingly, the audience didn’t clamor for one.

Whether it was because the actual weather was too hot, or because Rain’s performance wasn’t hot enough (audience interaction is a big factor!), the Intensity concert ended on a low note.

The moms may have thought his performance was scandalous as it was, but for K-Pop fans, Rain in Manila was really more of a drizzle than the deluge they’ve come to expect from Korean artists.

Was? Sind sie sauer, dass Rain keine Zeit für Interviews und Photo Shootings hatte? Meine Güte, dieser Junge kann es auch niemanden recht machen oder?  Mad

FAN ACCT: (INTENSITY in MANILA) ...sorry if it's late!

The day I encountered the heaviest and the happiest "RAIN" in my life =)

Sorry if I'm only doing this now=))...but I still want to share my experiences when Rain visited here^__^....I hope you'll enjoy!

LET'S START!!^___^

SEPT. 2 ,2010 - behave!

I heard from other clouds that Rain is already in the Philippines...but not yet in manila...so I searched thoroughly...and I got a confirmation that he was in Cebu..and he would really have a concert!...I was literally screaming my lung out cause of joy...and I was like "MAMA!!...Tuloy na yung concert ni Rain!...nasa Cebu na sya!" (MOM!...Rain's concert is gonna push through!...he is already in cebu!)...but instead, my mom scolded me for screaming loudly...so I behaved cause I have to buy a ticket for his concert and my mom wouldn't lend me money if I misbehaves =))

jumping to...
SEPT. 4 ,2010 - RAIN!!!???

when I checked on a site that Saturday morning...I saw that there are no new updates, so I have to log-out early.

then noon comes and it is a very boring day...my mom asked me if I wanted to go with them to our grandparent's house...but, I refused...then I just decided to watch T.V whole day...actually, I was just watching at TV5 all the time cause I know that they are the ones who are going to promote Rain (I was hoping for news that day)...and then suddenly at around 4:00 in the afternoon a news came up on "Aksyon" that Rain is already in manila and I saw there paparazzi video..."RAIN!!!???"...I was blanked that moment and I was giggling like crazy when I saw him walk out the airport...after the news...I ran to the computer and write updates about it...and then I realized that... that day was never really boring at all...maybe that's why I don't feel like going out of the house^___^

SEPT. 5 ,2010- enjoying Rain news and segments at every stations and specially PO5!

I got a PM from a cloud that Rain would be performing an opening for PO5...that news started my day HAPPILY!!

...I was waiting until 12 o'clock in the afternoon, my mom and my sisters are with me...then It's TIME!!...but...I get a little bit frustrated because rain was out of sight...and they just made a tribute for him (they just played his music but they didn't copy the moves...well I expect that to happen...hehehe )...but I'm still glad that they made a segment for Rain^___^

SEPT. 6 ,2010- OH...bad news...

it is Rain's sched for presscon that day...but I've got a news that it was canceled at the last minute...but when I reviewed the issue (am I a detective??) from different stories I have read...it is not Rain's fault at all...and is Rain not allowed to swim?...okay whatever..

jumps to...

SEPT. 8 ,2010- TICKET DAY!!

it was late in the afternoon...I got home from school and my mom called from her office and asked me where can she buy the ticket for Rain concert...at first I was replying calmly...but at the time i putted down the phone...I was screaming like crazy again....then after 3 hours, my mom called and said that she bought two tickets...one for me and one for her...hahaha...

SEPT. 9 ,2010- SICK...

It was a SAD day for me...I got a fever (why???...it's been a year and a half since I've caught my last fever...why does it have to be in a wrong timing????)...we have a mock test for NCAE at school that day and I was having a hard time answering because i don't feel well...it was so cold in the room, the air-con was in 16 degrees...and i was sweating like crazy. After the test I went home and, well...I didn't take a rest...instead I checked updates (I'm so stubborn, right?)...and that didn't do me any better...my fever got worse the next morning =(

SEPT. 10 ,2010- STILL SICK...

*sigh*...It is a holiday that day...and I'm glad that we don't have classes=)...but, I was in a quandary at that time because I was still sick and the concert would be on the next day...so I drank all the medicine and took all the rest I could have...still, I failed...I'm still sick as ever!...but, no one could stop me...I would still go no matter what^___^

SEPT. 11, 2010- D-DAY!! ..SICK???...WHO IS SICK??

well...I'm still sick this day (lucky me!, huh?)...hehehe...but I feel improvements compared to the past two days =))...I was so happy this day because it's GRANDPARENT'S day too!...my grandparents (on mother's side) are at our house and also my cousins, uncles and aunties...they were excited for me too, because of the concert...they all know how obsessed I am with Rain ever since^___^...but one of my auntie started teasing me...she said that I can't go because I was sick... and she also said that she would be the one who would accompany my mom to Rain's concert.. well of course I said..."HINDI PWEDE!!!...MAY SAKIT???...SINONG MAY SAKIT???...pupunta ako kahit anong mangyari!XD" (THAT CAN'T BE!!...SICK???...WHO IS SICK??... I would go no matter what!XD)...and they were all making fun of me...Then... one unexpected thing had happened that morning... I left our camera charging at one corner (of course I need to have my memories at his concert!!)...then when I got back...it was lost...I was hoping I could find it...but my mom said that my dad and my brother brought it (they were going to the province to visit my grandparents (father's side)...because it was my grandpa's birthday )...so I just decided to bring our big binoculars

...I wanted to eat somebody that day!!...then my older sister's closest friend texted me and told me to have fun and goodluck!...but I told her that how could I enjoy if I'm sick and I don't have any camera XD...she replied and said "Suck it all in!...it's a once in a life time opportunity to meet Rain and watch his concert...you can never let this pass!...and you should have told me to bring a camera for you later...cause I'm going to meet your sister at MOA too"...but I still didn't have any camera because she said it was too late and she was in school already.

so..at noon my mom decided to go to Alabang and accompany are relatives...then after that we would go straight to MOA.

PART 2- INTENSITY!!!

We arrived at MOA and we walked a long way to go to the concert grounds (we parked in the other side...but the concert location was long way at the other side!...WOW!...and I was still not feeling well that day XD)...then we arrived at the location and we saw a long line of people...I'm glad that many have come...but I doubt that it would fill the whole concert grounds...well, it was still to early to judge at that time.

actually...I was also there not just for the concert but also for meeting other clouds...I have so many people to meet but I failed to meet them all because the location was big and it's very hard to spot each other ...only my classmate and sis valherie was the only ones who I was able to meet...then other clouds keeps texting me and we just decided to meet after the concert.

AT LAST!...All the people entered the concert grounds and waited there for hours...my mom and I were sitting on the grounds...monitoring my sisters (because they were inside MOA and they were going to watch movies)

now going back...at first the location was half way empty...but as time passes, it gets full and full...we have to stand up because a lot of people are coming in and we have to guard our places...I was irritated by the people screaming when the concert ads was shown on the big screens (spcially when u-kiss was shown)...they were like crazy...hahaha...then people keep coming and coming until it was full.

WELL!!....IT STARTED!!...the music stops and Then KC Montero has come out and he was the MC for the night...he introduced Christian Bautista...and then U-KISS (i need to give them props for performing lively^__^...but I was there for only ONE MAN!)

then the MOMENT OF TRUTH comes...the screams and cheer became more wildly (That's why I was shocked when one segment in the newspaper said that the people weren't that excited when it's Rain's turn to perform...LOL!)...then RAIN suddenly popped up from beneath the stage with smokes coming out and A CHARISMATIC pose...then everybody went wild (of course me too...my sickness suddenly withered away^___^)...he sang 9 songs and I was singing all the way...some fans who are standing beside me were jealous of my big binoculars (they asked me where did I bought it..hihi)...it was so clear...I can already see his ring and wrist watch!...it was so cool!...my mom were getting crazy too...she was screaming "ANG GANDA NG KATAWAN NYA!!!" (HIS BODY IS SO BEAUTIFUL!)...and that made me laugh!...the clouds besides me were screaming at the top of there lungs too.

well FYI...my favorite part is when he sang I do...hihi...that was my favorite ballad on his 3rd album...and everything was just PERFECT!...but everything went so fast...and everybody wants more! (well...they said that you won't be contented when you encountered a great performer...you would keep coming back for more...and I totally agree!)...then..He sang his finale and said "Thanks for coming!...kamsahapnida!" then he gave a sweet flying kiss...Finally, the concert has ended...it was a glorious night for me and for those thousand clouds who came!!...when we went outside...there were guys who were giving posters...and my mom dived (literally) to get a poster, for me, with a sign of RAIN!!^___^then my sister texted us immediately after the concert...which cause me to wonder...how did they know that it ended already?...then I found out that they were watching outside the concert hall where there is a big screen and so many people watching and screaming too!...My older sister and her friend said that they enjoyed his concert so much... they said that rain was truly amazing and they felt goosebumps (LIKE ME!!)... my mom also said that Rain's concert made it clear for her and she already knows the reason why I love Rain so much (she also watched "a love to kill" and that makes her cry like a lot...that's why she knows that Ran is a great actor...but he had no idea that Rain is a splendid dancer!)...well I also failed to meet my friends and other clouds after the concert that night...so we just texted and talked about how fun the concert was!

It was the happiest day of my life (so far..)...I'm still hoping to see him have a full concert someday...and I know that day would come!...I want to thank Rain so much for bringing us an INTENSE experience while he was here in the Philippines...he gave those bitter reporters a slap on the face when he performed...and he proved himself that he really is a SUPERSTAR!...I will never ever forget SEPTEMBER 2010!!

I was there at the concert and really, some reported that people weren't excited when it was Rain's turn?? Were they deaf? When the concert ads flash you can hear the loudest screams are when they flash Rain's face! Were they watching a different concert? Because from where I was, people were barely controlling their impatience with KC, Christian Baustista and U kiss to finish. Mind you, I enjoyed both performance but as rainloveraine said, I was also there for one man.

I just don't know how to post videos here but in my video from the concert the screaming was nearly relentless. There were times when I can hardly hear Rain anymore. Watching it back home, it was starting sound like a really good horror movie- if you block out the music on the background hahaha. The guy next to me totally lost it- he came out of the closet publicly- if you know what I mean. He nearly dove over the railings just to get a really good shot of Rain's abs when he lifted hsi shirt during Hip Song.

And there was a report also that he lipsynched? I guess they were sitting somewhere far away with earplugs because you can hear Rain getting breathless from dancing. He was singing live and he was sweating like crazy- as we were especially when he removed the white blazer. Aaarghh!

Plus 9 song is better than nothing at all so yes, we Philippine fans are happy with whatever we can get. I know he was tired with all the schedules but the performance was flawless, his dances were as good as his usual. I didn't feel shortchanged, the long wait under the heat and rain, heat and rain again, was all worth it. I came with 3 friends, 1 is not really a fan but was totally converted after. Her words are, "He's so yummy!!!" Ok she's pretty but she's not gifted with eloquence. But then aren't we all robbed of our senses when talks turn to Rainisms?

It was a great concert and I'm happy you felt good enought to go. I'm spreading the Rain love here...

U kiss tried to imitate Rain's moves several times- Hip Song , Rainism and Love Story with funny results. Plus they looked really thin and small- I realized this only when Rain came out and he looked larger than Life. Don't get me wrong, they were really very entertaining and I like their version of the Boyz 2 Men End of the Road.

Sigh, I wish he'd come back soon!! A lot of encore requests were shouted when he was done. It will take a lot of time before we all finally get off the Rain concert high and It's nearly a month now... That's how amazing it was and I wouldn't let anybody tell me otherwise.
